The numerous contributions to the Brazilian Society of Clinical Research Professionals (SBPPC) guaranteed the presence of Prof.. Dr. José Roberto Cortelli, professor of the undergraduate course in Dentistry and the master's and doctoral programs in Health Sciences at the University of Taubaté (Unitau), on the list of honorees from the São Paulo City Council last Monday, June 17th. The ceremony, held in the capital of São Paulo, marked the celebration of 25 years of SBPPC, who received the Silver Salute honor.

Dental surgeon, researcher and professor in dentistry with a focus on periodontics, implant dentistry and dental prosthesis, Prof. Dr. José Roberto Cortelli was the only dentist on the list of 12 professionals, from all over Brazil, chosen to receive recognition at the São Paulo Chamber. The list of honorees also included doctors, pharmacists, veterinarians, biologists, between others.

“This recognition for me is spectacular. I have a long history in research, developing clinical studies. I have been a professor at UNITAU for 34 years alone. Recognition is something that makes me very proud, But I don't win this prize alone. The tribute must be shared with all colleagues and partners who worked with me throughout this journey”, says the teacher.

Coordinator of the master's and doctoral programs in Health Sciences at the University of Taubaté, A developing. Dra. Laís Regiane da Silva Concílio remembers that Professor Cortelli was one of those responsible for placing UNITAU on the list of institutions that carry out clinical research.

“He was the founder of the Periodontal Research Center (Recently), em 2008, the University's first clinical research center, which is based in the dentistry department. Nuper has already offered more than five thousand services to the population, in conducting clinical research, many of these with company partnerships”, says the coordinator of postgraduate programs.

The coordinator also highlights the importance of recognizing Professor Cortelli's work for the master's and doctorate at UNITAU, since clinical research generates scientific productions with greater impact, enhancing the quality of products generated by Health Sciences programs.

“We have many other master’s and doctorate professors who stand out and are awarded for the research they carry out in different areas. This only enhances our Health Sciences programs and shows that we are on the right path in terms of the qualifications of our teachers. Students end up benefiting and, consequently, the population, that will have access to more qualified professionals”, Cortelli completes.
